Foundation Year Elective Programme
As part of an extra elective to the undergraduate medical programme, the University offers students a chance to gain academic credits for participation in a six week (20 hour) programme.
The elective will see a certain number of students placed at various locations and being exposed to a variety of learning outcomes, which include: Medical Arabic, Scientific Writing, Peer Assisted Learning (PAL), Research and Community Outreach. For the second year the Community Engagement Office is supporting the FY Elective Programme with the support of external community groups within Bahrain on a voluntary basis.
Completing the course work, in the form of an oral presentation and report, the experience will include various related health issues and make participants aware of the support services that the Kingdom has available.
