Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing

Applicants will be selected for admission to the BSc in Nursing on the basis of open competition using the following criteria:

1. Basic eligibility - i.e.  achievement of minimum academic and English language entry requirements
2. References and life experience i.e. work/life balance, extracurricular activities, relevant work or voluntary experience etc.

Academic and English Language Entry Requirements

The following requirements are the minimum standards required for consideration for entry into the BSc in Nursing. Attainment of these grades does not guarantee acceptance to the programme. Admission to the Programme is at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.

English Language Requirement

As the BSc in Nursing is delivered entirely through English, applicants are required to sit an English examination in the University on the day of interview.  Applicants must pass this examination to gain entry to the programme.

 

Academic Entry Requirements

A-levels

Applicants must present a minimum of 2 A-levels or 4 AS subjects with minimum grades of C from subjects within the science stream. All applicants must also have completed a minimum of 6 subjects at GCSE level.

High School / Secondary Leaving Certificate / Tawjihiya

Applicants must have completed 12 years of education of the Secondary School/ Leaving Certificate (Science or Commercial Stream) with a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (cGPA) of 80% .

India

Applicants must have completed XII and obtained a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (cGPA) of 70%. Applicants must also hold a bone-fide certificate of completion issued by the CBSE or ISCE.

How to Apply

All applications BSc in Nursing must be submitted online. A non-refundable application fee of US$50/BD20 is required and is payable by credit card at the final stage of your online application or by cash when the applicant presents for interview at the University.

Upon successful completion of the online application, the applicant will receive an auto response email confirming receipt of the application. The applicant will also be requested to submit any outstanding documentation.

Essential documentation required for consideration for the BSc in Nursing is as follows:
- Copy of passport showing name, nationality and date of birth
- Copy of CPR (if applicable)
- Certified copies of academic transcripts and certificates from School (Grades 10-12) / University

- Two passport size photographs

These documents can be uploaded during the online application process. Alternatively, they can be emailed to jalshaiba@rcsi-mub.com or delivered by hand/post to The Admissions Office, RCSI Bahrain, Building 2441, Road 2835, Busaiteen, Kingdom of Bahrain.

Following completion of the online application and submission of all essential documentation, eligible applicants will be invited to the University to undertake English exam and interview. The interview will be conducted by two members of academic staff and will assess the applicant’s communication skills, maturity, motivation and suitability for a career in Nursing.

Following attendance at interview, the Admissions Committee will consider the application in full. Candidates will be advised of the outcome of this consideration by email within approximately 2 weeks of interview.

Application outcomes are as follows:

1. Candidates may be issued with a Full Offer
2. Candidates may be issued with a Conditional Offer i.e. pending achievement of conditions specified in the offer letter
3. Candidates may be placed on a waitlist which will be reviewed prior to commencement of the programme
4. Candidates may be issued with a regret letter indicating they have been unsuccessful in obtaining a place on the programme

  

Fees

Tuition fees for academic year commencing September 2013 are US $12,000 per annum. This includes provision of a laptop computer for each student. A fee payment schedule will be further outlined in your offer letter.

Fees are reviewed periodically and may increase for the next academic year to meet cost increases incurred in running the programme.

To accept your offer a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the annual programme fee is required. If your tuition fees will be paid by means of a Scholarship or Sponsor, you are required to submit a letter of confirmation from the awarding body. If a valid sponsorship letter is not provided along with the Acceptance of Offer, conditions for self-funding will apply.

Sponsorship - A number of sponsored places may be made available to Bahraini Nationals through Tamkeen. Please note, to apply for Tamkeen Sponsorship you require an offer letter from RCSI Bahrain.

  

Degree Awarded

Graduates will be awarded a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing from the Royal College of Surgeons – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain) and from the National University of Ireland (NUI).
