Staff Award winners honoured at RCSI Bahrain reception

Associate Professor of Family Medicine, Professor David Misselbrook and Sports Development and Student Services Specialist, Ahmed Al Mousawi, have been named as the winners of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland - Medical University of Bahrain's (RCSI Bahrain) annual Dean's Awards for 2018.
The winners were announced during the annual staff lunch on campus, where they were presented with a commemorative award by RCSI Bahrain Vice President for Academic Affairs and Head of School of Medicine, Professor Joe McMenamin.

The event also featured a speech from RCSI Bahrain President, Professor Sameer Otoom, in which he highlighted many of the University's achievements over the last year and paid tribute to staff members for their contributions to these achievements.
Created in 2011 as a way of acknowledging the diverse and essential contributions of all staff members, the Dean's Award initiative is open to nominations from all full-time staff.

Among the other awards presented on the day were the Inspirational Leader Award, to Admissions Manager, Andrea Dwyer, and the ‘Rising Star' Award, to English Tutor, Marwa Alnajjar.
Nursing Lecturer, Dr Mariam Alaradi, received the Community Engagement Award, with Associate Professor of Physics, Professor Fryad Henari, taking home the Research Excellence Award.

The Quality Enhancement department received a rousing reception after winning the Team of the Year award, while further acknowledgment was made to long-serving staff members, Sumaya Faraj, Maryam Yaqoob, Roberta Jones, Dr Edwina Brennan, Dr Tim Doubell, Annie Raftery, Professor Martin Corbally, Fatima Al Daylami, Dr Kathryn Strachan, Yoga Hassan and Professor Fiza Rashid-Doubell.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor McMenamin offered his personal congratulations to all the winners and praised their contribution towards the university's commitment to excellence in education, research and service
