RCSI Bahrain promoting nursing careers

The annual Nursing Careers Day took place at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland - Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain) recently with the aim of introducing senior nursing students to future career opportunities.

Organised by the School of Nursing and Midwifery, in collaboration with the Careers and Alumni Office, the event was attended by more than 80 nursing students and guests.

Attendees were welcomed by RCSI Bahrain Head of School of Nursing and Midwifery, Professor Seamus Cowman, before a presentation on ‘Developing your Nursing Career'.
The keynote address was delivered by Chief Nursing Information Officer at Dubai Healthcare Authority and Chair of the United Arab Emirates Nursing and Midwifery Council Scientific Research Committee, Professor Jane Griffiths, on the theme of ‘What Nursing Can Do for You and What You Can Do for Nursing.'

Nursing Profession Registrar for the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), Nooreya Mohamed, presented on the NHRA Nursing Licensing Examination, while Senior Nursing lecturers, Professor Maura Pidgeon, Dr May McCreddie and Dr Maryam Alaradi, spoke about postgraduate options, international opportunities and Fulbright Graduate Scholarships respectively.
RCSI Bahrain nursing graduate, Eman Abdulla was on hand to present accounts of her personal experiences as part of the Inspiring Excellence series, before a Tamkeen workshop focusing on CV writing, job hunting and interview preparation.
The hosting of the RCSI Bahrain's Nursing Careers Day, falls in line with the University's ongoing efforts to positively promote nursing as a viable career option in Bahrain.
