RCSI Bahrain hosts Alumni Reception

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland - Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain) played host to its annual Alumni Reception at the University's St. Stephen's Green restaurant in its Busaiteen campus.
Over 40 guests attended the University's Alumni Dinner event, with cohorts of alumni from the very first graduating class of 2010, right up to the most recent - and biggest ever - class of 2018, in attendance.

After a reception and the opportunity to catch up with friends and former classmates, RCSI Bahrain's Chief Operating Officer, Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, welcomed the guests and provided former students with an overview of the University updates.
The event also witnessed the launch of RCSI Bahrain's Inspiring Excellence project. The project will showcase portraits of distinguished graduates around the campus to inspire current students and visitors to the University, all while representing the RCSI Bahrain tagline ‘RCSI Bahrain developing healthcare leaders who make a difference worldwide'.

The portraits were unveiled by RCSI President, Mr Kenneth Mealy and Mr Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, and were presented to three RCSI Bahrain class of 2010 graduates.

The first portrait belonged to Consultant Gastroenterologist in Archbold Medical Centre in Georgia, USA, Dr Aymen Bukannan, who was valedictorian of his class and RCSI Bahrain's first consultant.

Assistant Nurse Manager at King Hamad University Hospital's Hyperbaric and Wound Care department, Ms Eman AlJahmi, who also pursued her postgraduate degree in Nursing at RCSI Bahrain and successfully graduated in 2018, received the second portrait.
The final portrait belonged to Registered Nurse at the Bahrain Defence Force Royal Medical Services' General Intensive Care Unit, Ms Asma AlNajjar.
