WHITE COAT CEREMONY

The white coat ceremony (WCC) is a relatively new ritual. It marks the student’s transition from the study of preclinical to clinical health sciences. WCCs is a formal "robing" or "cloaking" of students in white coats, the garb physicians have traditionally worn for over 100 years.

A total of 177 students, both from the School of Medicine and the School of nursing will take the stand to read the ancient Hippocratic Oath in front of esteemed guests, RCSI Bahrain faculty, friends and family. This ritual makes the students more aware of their responsibility and impresses upon them the obligations they will inherent in the practice of their profession: to be excellent, compassionate, honorable, and take responsibility for patient care.
