RCSI BAHRAIN’S STUDENT NURSES OFFER FREE HEALTH CHECKS


On the eve of Florence Nightingale’s birth, the founder of modern nursing, healthcare institutions across the world celebrated International Nursing Day. 

Students from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Medical University Bahrain (“RCSI Bahrain”) celebrated the day with a variety of activities, including operating a health and wellness stand at Seef Mall where their nursing skills were put into practice. Visitors’ blood pressure was checked, as well as height, weight and Body Mass Index (“BMI”).  The nursing staff of RCSI-Bahrain also advised visitors on nutrition and the importance of a healthy lifestyle including exercise and healthy eating.  Women were also offered educational information leaflets about the early detection of breast cancer.

Batool Al Mohandis, Head of Nursing and Midwifery RCSI Bahrain, commented, “ International Nurses’ Day is a global celebration of the of the valuable contribution nurses make to society.  Our students have been very creative in putting together educational activities for the both the general public and the staff of the university.  I am very proud of their efforts and how far they have come in their medical education.  RCSI-Bahrain is proud to play its part in helping to develop a new generation of healthcare professionals for Bahrain.”
