The Nursing Students Society (NSS) helped to celebrate World Diabetes Day by donating gifts to newly diagnosed diabetic children in collaboration with the Pediatric Endocrine and Diabetes Team’s (PEDT), at Salmaniya Medical Complex.  The toys are used as an incentive and an encouragement to children aged between one to 16 years of age, to work hard in effectively managing their diabetes. Established in December 2006, PEDT was developed to provide family support services for both children with diabetes and their families. This inpatient & outpatient services target children with Type I & II diabetes, with a total of 1000 patients being followed and monitored with this service.

Speaking on behalf of the NSS President Ms Amal Al Somali said that the experience was overwhelming, and that the society admires the work of the “Pediatric Endocrine and Diabetes Team’s (PEDT) services that are aimed at improving the quality-of-care and life for children with Diabetes. “
