RECORD NUMBER PARTICIPATE IN RCSI BAHRAIN’S BLOOD DONATION DRIVE

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland- Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain) opened its campus to Bahrain’s Central Blood Bank (CBB) on the 22nd of November as part of its biannual agreement for blood donations. Part of a strong Community Involvement programme, RCSI Bahrain are dedicated to serving the community and has developed a community engagement plan that supports individuals and groups in the country. The CBB is just one of much such collaboration’s.
The event was made available to both staff and students on campus, and for the second time this year Dr Fakhriya A. Darwish, Head of the CBB welcomed the collaboration, “It is always a pleasure to visit the campus where there is such generous support. Having blood immediately available when it is needed may help save many lives. You will be someone's hero – in fact, you could help save more than one life with just one donation.”

A total of 70 people participated in the drive with a total of 55 units’ donated. The university will welcome CBB back again to the campus in April, continuing to build its Community Involvement Programme.
